Baton Rouge

Patriot Guard - HOTH Mission

00/00/

Escort for Navy veterans, Baton Rouge to New Orleans, 2 Oct 09
PGR has been invited to escort reunion attendees of the USS Theodore E. Chandler DD717. Ship served from 1943 through 1975.
Most of reunion attendees are WWII vets, a few Korean War vets and a couple of Vietnam vets.
PGR riders need to meet no later than 0845 hrs. (staging area along street in front of Sheraton).
Due to forecast for Friday (rain) and experience with trying to escort buses, we have decided to make this a 2-part mission.

Those able to meet in Baton Rouge at the Sheraton downtown (by the USS Kidd) to give these veterans a send-off for their ride to New Orleans are to meet no later than 0830 at the Sheraton front entrance. Those wishing to ride with (escort) the bus or buses may do so but it will be "every man for himself" as there is no LEO escort and the buses do not like to go slow.

Part 2- for anyone interested, especially PGRers in the New Orleans area:
we will participate in this mission by meeting the Sailors at the WWII museum.
(each of us pay our own admission - prices here www.nationalww2museum.org/plan-a-visit),
visit with the Sailors on the tour (ya know they are gonna tell sea stories), and have lunch after the museum visit.
Assemble at the WWII museum at 0945 (9:45am) sharp. www.ddaymuseum.org
